01 Dec Empty Bowls Luncheon
The Christmas season is a fun time to think about what presents you’re buying for your children, friends and clients. It’s also a time of year to think about those less fortunate. (Did you know 1 in 5 kids in North Florida goes hungry?)
As a guest of our friend Marla McDaniel with our client the Barnabas Center, we attended the 29th Annual Empty Bowls Luncheon. The fundraiser, sponsored by Second Harvest North Florida, took place at the Prime Osborn Convention Center in Jacksonville, FL.
Local celebrities served Chi-Fil-A soup and bread to attendees. In addition to the swag bowls created by local students, many attendees purchased bowls made by local artists. The money raised is used to help the more than 300,000 people living in our area who don’t where they’ll find their next meal.
In fact, for every $1 Second Harvest receives, it provides seven meals to those hungry families. Amazing!
