Choose to Be Great Instead of Big?
I just finished reading an inspiring book called, Small Giants by Bo Burlington. It explores 14 private companies that have chosen to focus on being great at what they do instead of growing a huge company.
Each company has their own special “mojo” that makes them unique and successful. Instead of simply worrying about how to increase profits, they chose to focus on:
– Providing great customer service
– Creating a great place to work
– Making great contributing to their local communities
– Developing great relationships with their suppliers
– Finding great ways to lead their lives
Small businesses are faced with so many challenges and the question of growth is big one. How big should your company get? What will you have to trade if you want to run a large company? You might have more clients and more revenue, but you might not personally know every customer or employee. Do you want to make that trade? What are your priorities? What’s on the top of your list when you think about your company’s future?
Each one of the companies in this book made a decision to remain small and passionate about their product or service.
Check out the book and decide what’s best for your business.
